Chart History
The “Hajj at a Glance” chart was first developed in 1983, for personal understanding of the Hajj process before going to perform the pilgrimage. In 1984 the chart caught the eye of a staffer at the Saudi newspaper The Arab News, who published it (with permission) in the newspaper two weeks before the Hajj. The chart received much praise leading it to be published a second time a week later. From 1984 onwards, Arab News continued to publish the chart for the next three years.
This Chart may have been the first comprehensive one-page graphic display of all three variations of Hajj and their sequential rituals.
To ensure its compliance with the credible religious authorities, the chart was translated into Arabic in 1984, and presented to the Ministry of Hajj & Auqaf in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The chart took its final shape with their comments incorporated.
Since its first publication, the chart found its way into Khaleej Times in the United Arab Emirates, where it was published in 1985, 1986 and 1987. The chart was also published in the Dawn newspaper of Pakistan in 1985, and the Munsif newspaper of India in 1990.
In 1995, Islamic Horizon magazine of the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA) published this chart and continued including it in its pre-Hajj issues for several years.
While you may find other graphic charts on this subject, the Hajj at a Glance chart still finds its value providing all three variations of Hajj in a single page format.
Upon receiving praise and encouragement from my family, friends, and requests for copies from individuals and organizations internationally, the chart is now published on the internet for worldwide availability.
I hope the Hajj at a Glance chart would help you perform your Hajj, and pray for acceptance of your Hajj and prayers, Ameen.
While performing your Hajj, kindly pray for acceptance of Hajj and prayers of every individual performing the Hajj, and also pray for peace, harmony, and well-being of the entire humanity created by Allah. Thanks
